rekhā [ रेखा ]

Rekha is a Sanskrit word that means 'line'

verb

The edge, outline or shape of something

[Oxford English Dictionary]
  • ArtRekha innately means any sort of creative expression within the 'lines' or confines of art.

  • ArtRekha was started with the sole purpose of creating a platform where both buyers and sellers could explore the entire gamut of art from artisans sitting in the farthest corners of India. Although we are aggregators of art, we ensure diversity and authenticity by hand-picking each artist in our collection.

  • Our local and regional art has brought to life the heritage of our country and has enabled us to create global imprints in art and history. We aim to promote these various forms of folk art found across India, and cater to the regional artist community that forms the backbone of the art industry.

  • At Creatology Solutions, our parent company, we believe that art will increasingly be consumed digitally and that is where the idea of a tech-centric platform called ArtRekha was born. By leveraging the Web 3.0 standard and latest advances in technology, we have created an immersive experience without the need for a traditional brick and mortar setup. Using Augmented Reality (AR), our end customers can visualise every piece of art in their own space, helping them to make an informed decision before purchasing. This will revolutionise the way art is bought and sold in the future.

Meet the Team

ArtRekha was started by two budding entrepreneurs, Siddhant Gupta & Gaurav Desadla, who share a common vision to bridge the gap between the growing demand for affordable art and the millions of artists who lack the resources to connect with potential buyers.

  • Gaurav Desadla (Left) & Siddhant Gupta (Right) holding Rabindranath Tagore'slargest artwork called "Kala Pahad" that was made in 1928.

  • Gaurav graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a degree in Computer Science. His technical proficiency, coupled with his creativity, makes him the chief architect of the ArtRekha platform. His family has a strong appreciation for nature and local handicrafts such as block prints, both of which adorn the walls of his house and have drawn him towards folk art which makes extensive use of natural, plant-based colours. After spending a few years working in California with Panasonic Avionics Corporation, Gaurav returned to India to join his family business of manufacturing industrial weighing solutions. A heavy engineering influence and a background in software development has helped him extensively while designing and building the ArtRekha platform.

  • Siddhant graduated from Bentley University, Boston with a degree in Economics-Finance. His childhood, spent in a home adorned with art, antiques, sculptures and collectibles, has sparked an undying passion to create a disruptive platform for the unorganised art landscape in India, and this ultimately took the shape of ArtRekha. As far as paintings are concerned, Siddhant’s family possesses a rare collection of original paintings by an array of artists such as Rabindranath Tagore, Jamini Roy and Nicholas Roerich. Besides ArtRekha, Siddhant is still actively involved with his legacy family business in food processing as well as information technology solutions, both of which have given him extensive experience in creating and scaling a business in today’s era of tech revolution.

  • Gaurav and Siddhant believe ArtRekha is the current need of the day in India and endeavour to fulfil their mission by supporting local artists, promoting new forms of art and using technology to provide an unmatched experience for art collectors and consumers across the country.
